The Challenge for Greatness

It never ceases to amaze me the amount of people who will pay good money to be entertained by greatness, but never seek to become great. What about the people who achieve a measure of self-greatness and cease to push the envelop to discover how great they can be? Even worse are people who limit their capacity to be great to great books by someone who is greater than themselves. America is one of the greatest countries in the world, but the society we’ve built is nothing but the product of people who have become enamored by a greatness that fails to push the envelop of human potential.

Closing the gap:

Famed Rabbi, Micheal Munk stated, “Human existence involves a constant tension between what man is – his value, goals, concepts, visions, self – and the environment in which he lives.” This truth became a reality during the lowest moment of my life when I found myself divorced and homeless in 2009. My environment went from having a family, ministry, money, and a successful business, to a broken family, spiritual frustration, financially depleted, and entrepreneurial failure. To make matters worse, my mother passed during the same span of time it seemed like I was dying.

Having read some of the greatest books in personal development and spiritual growth, I found myself struggling to close the gap between my environment and the value I knew I could bring to my environment. My world was crashing fast and I knew I had to find a solution to overcome the tension that tried to redefine my manhood.

Thirty days after my divorce, I picked up my pen to continue to write about Purpose Development™. My years of personal development and spiritual growth took me so far, but beyond inspiration and salvation, my soul felt like it was built for more. Sure, I was at the Threshold of Quitting™, but I knew there was something driving me to be great beyond anything I read in a book. Today, I know it as Purpose Development™, which is the process of leveraging the sophistication of the soul to maximize growth potential and build parameters for protecting convictions and motivations.

I’ve learned that Purpose Development™ is another level of greatness that few discover because they believe that personal development and existing spiritual growth solutions is all they need. They fail to realize that the human soul was designed to harvest the energy of purpose to drive new levels of greatness. It’s the catalyst for bridging the gap between one’s environment and the value one can bring to an environment.

Purpose Development™

  1. …takes over where personal development leaves off

  2. …helps people become the best version of themselves through processes that distribute the energy of purpose

  3. …provides practical strategies for creating a perpetual connection to purpose

  4. …provides solutions for overcoming Purpose Deficit Disorders™ (PDD) which is the number one threat against personal and spiritual growth

  5. …helps people live and work from a place of strength

  6. …defines success as an attitude anchored to parameters that create a sense for a higher purpose

  7. …causes greatness to emerge in that small gap between the environment and the value one brings to the environment

This thing called Purpose Development™ is unlike traditional personal development and spiritual growth solutions. It’s like a hurricane in my brain that challenges me to be greater than I was yesterday. The power of Purpose Development™ helped me close the gap between my environment and the value I knew I could bring to the environment. It’s the difference between a toxic environment that causes people to reach the Threshold of Quitting™ and an environment that compels them to pour energy into where they desire to go in life.

Listen to great souls!

Moving forward, we must remember that greatness is not measured in celebrity or closing the mind because you have reached a quantifiable measure of wealth. Neither is it measured by confining your potential to a mentor who meets your standard for greatness. Greatness is not measured in academic pedigrees, nor titles that portray influence and authority. Great people not only make great quotes, but they have great a soul to help them live great lives:

  1. The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members. – Coretta Scott King

  2. Purpose is the difference between good and great, between honorable success and legendary performance, between fifteen minutes of fame and a legacy. – Nikos Mourkogiannis

  3. You were designed for accomplishment, engineered for success, and endowed with the seeds of greatness. – Zig Ziglar

  4. Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion: The potential for greatness lives within each of us. – Wilma Rudolf

  5. As human being, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world – that is the myth of the atomic age – as in being able to remake ourselves. – Mahatma Gandhi

  6. But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. – Yehsua HaMashiach (Jesus Christ)

America is home to some of the greatest thought and spiritual growth leaders in the world. My respect for them is tremendous, but our country is undergoing a meaning crisis and we cannot settle for the status quo when it comes to unlocking human potential. Never forget that greatness is not confined to what we do, but what we can become by Hacking Purpose™ for Meaningful Excellence™. It’s building parameters to push the soul beyond traditional inspiration and acquiring a ticket to heaven.

Greatness is measured in our willingness to master skills for harvesting the energy of purpose, so we can close the gap between the environment and the value we bring to the environment. It’s the difference between creating an environment that unleashes hidden potential or becoming a product of an environment to hide potential. Harvesting the energy of purpose is the only way we can affect change in the world. We must learn from the giants that has come before us, and at the same time challenge the sophistication of our soul to push the envelope of success, motivation, and spiritual growth.
